I'm gonna hot take you here and say that Mr. Usher is fantastic. that "take you to the river" reprise gave me full body chills first time I heard the album, maybe even better than The March's one. the only song on this I really don't care for is The Revival, which still could have been a great P&P song if he sped it up like 25%

also, as a long long longtime fan of this band, the run from Gloria to The Beginning might be the best run of songs they ever did and absolutely tops any of IV (and most of the three before it) for me

Are we just gonna ignore that it sounds like a P!ATD track though or...?

I mean they have had that kinda shit on albums since the start really (Blood of the Rose/Vital Vessels/Go Get Your Gun) so for better or worse it's part of this band's DNA

anyway I feel like the kind of big news? that Act 6 is not an album but a screenplay got buried itt, that's kind of worth discussing surely

This album is absolutely flawless. Act IV has lots of flaws but is also excellent and has more standouts than this album.

What should be focused on is Casey basically saying its not gonna happen

right, I took that as bad news as someone who was hoping for an Act VI in the same vein as IV and V

I'm not surprised there's no Act VI. We're lucky to have got these last two, and super lucky that they are so good. There's only so long an artist can stay interested in a project initiated by a much younger version of themselves. I'm still waiting for Pain of Salvation to do The Perfect Element pt III. And pt II basically barely qualified as really the sequel as it is. Inspiration moves on and it's burdensome to be tethered to the over-ambitions of youth.

I barely remember the story but I thought this was the end and Casey had teased an Act VI to just be a possible epilogue.

mr. usher sucks

this is pretty good but definitely the worst act and the avg wouldn't be as high if it weren't the "last" one

But the story adds a lot tbh

Also Act I is the weakest Act imo. Fight me

Act I is weakest, agreed. Do many people dispute that?

I don't think so, but TooManyFriends said the weakest one to him was Act V. Now that's quite a statement lol
