Opinion: this album has on average a very gradual decrease in quality throughout which is just about the least desirable attribute an album can have.

Not that it isn't good, but Karma is the worst proper track and April Ethereal is the best

They're all very good but it's just slightly irritating

Well, I do know how annoying that feeling is, although it's not applicable here for me. I actually think Demon of the Fall is my least fave actual metal track. Bar the opening minutes of course.

Karma is far from my favorite on here but it's still a great song, especially the middle section. I agree it's not Opeth doing their best though, half of it sounds a little too much like straightforward melodeath to me, aside from that melodic middle section. Also Demon of the Fall and Epilogue are amazing so no way does this get worse as it goes along.

Epilogue is cool, I guess I don't give it enough credit as a song in its own right over simply an outro

Tbh anything would be downhill from April Ethereal, ridiculous song

April Ethereal is their best song of the 90s albums, aside from the Still Life album.

Demon of the Fall's outro is one of the best moments in music

fuck yeah...this is very much modern DM when compared to previous ones. I dug a lot Morningrise soft OSDM vibe but there's clear improvements on this one, in terms of production and vocals. Speaking of which, the vocals on Demon Of The Fall are OMFG...so tks there Demon if you're reading this lolol

Nice! Those growls are something else man, oooof! He used to have the best harsh vocals in the game I'd say. On that note, have you heard Karma yet, the closer before the Epilogue? Those final screams, man...

this is my 2nd listen and that is precisely where I am at rn lol

The only setback (considering I'm late to this lol) is that this is pretty much "inside the box" DM...still very good. They prob more or less built this box though...lol

Structurally it's more like conventional DM than the first two, agreed. However, the perfect blend of acoustic and heavy sections here is very unique I would say. The uniqueness not necessarily stemming from this blend, but how well it's been done here.

A very nice 4 by the way!
