You're absolutely right, and that's why metalcore is such a fun genre. There's such a wide umbrella of different styles, I'd say these guys and Periphery are the most influential in the "progressive djent" metalcore category

periphery ushered in an army of self produced djient clones
these guys brought space themes to death metal/deathcore/metalcore that hadn't really been done before, and was poorly imitated afterwards
it was like someone took mass effect and wrote a metal soundtrack. genius tbh

Late reply, but I agree a bit. I will say that this group solidified themselves into my listening habits through the mid-late 2010's, so at least I can look back positively at those first experiences.
