of course i'm being subjective w/ the "obviously the worst" thing, if yer favorite bands are Korn or Limp Bizkit it may surely be the album for you!

Cool bands from my youth indeed. Adrenaline its not nu-metal for me though, and prob the one I still listen to nowadays (comparing to those bands) I can see you guys as musical experts but also shoegazy heads that have trouble aknowledging raw visceral and coherent rage. Early Deftones fans out of sput don t disregard adrenaline that way. Every weekend I see someone bashing that album and have to intervein and seriously doubt someone goes check that out again.

And its not unfinished at all. Lifter, Root and 7 words are brilliantly placed, not to mention tracks like Nosebleed, minus blindfold and fireal...or even the hidden track First. I know what you did there, trying to put me as a nu-metal fan in a depreciative manner, therefore my "cringy taste". Unfortunately there s few guys from my generation to back me up on this.

I don't like Adrenaline because they sound like they hadn't really figured out who they actually were, save for maybe a couple of tracks, which can be enjoyable sometimes, but mostly seems to resort in contrived "scream sections" that don't actually connect in the way, say, "Elite" or "Girls Telephone Boys" do on a massive level. A lot of things they did on Adrenaline come off like they did them because they were the cool thing to do and didn't really have much of a deeper inspiration by that point. By the very next album, they had balanced their sound considerably more and really discovered the power of sublety & the more drawn-out, menacing softer sections as opposed to just bashing shit out every 5 seconds like they do on Adrenaline.
The big shoegaze people here account for the disproportionate amount of SNW worship, but I just always felt like Adrenaline, for the most part, feels kinda forced.

I can agree with you slightly especially on Bored, or 7 words, or #9. Not on the rest of the album I don't. Not only its not forced as they are not trying to copy anyone there either. Its original raw stuff with a special and almost accidental punk vibe, and yeah, made by cool kids with backpacks and bicycles. Plus it has some of the best Chino's vocals.
And off course I agree with this: "the very next album, they had balanced their sound considerably more and really discovered the power of sublety & the more drawn-out, menacing softer sections"

I like Adrenaline but I can agree that its their worst. I still think it exceeds a good amount of what else was around in that style but they clearly defined themselves more with Around the Fur.

Agreed. I like Adrenaline quite a bit (Fireal is one of my favorite Deftones songs), but I do consider it to be their “worst”. Doesn’t mean it’s bad.
Gore is 2nd worst, and I still like it a lot. Played it constantly for about two months after it came out.
