Still Life and Gojira? I mean you're entitled to your opinion but neither of those are really DM in a way that merit discussion in top albums of the genre.

Seven Churcnes, Mental Funeral, Scream Bloody Gore, Abominations of Desolation, Malleus Maleficarum, Effigy of the Forgotten, The Key all tied for #1

It's pretty pointless to be a genre stickler but comparing SBG and Still Life is pretty much useless.

Since when were Gojira and Opeth not considered death metal? For their newer efforts, sure, those aren't death metal. But the early stuff? Hellyeah

I would never consider Gojira death metal. Opeth never really did death metal either, it was mainly Mikael's vox that were dm.

Opeth's earlier stuff was more black metal-ish with doomy instrumentals and death metal vox.
Later on it was just heavy prog metal, they never really had death metal instrumentals.

For me, Opeth were never DM. They had elements of it, sure, but I would never compare them to Death, MA, Incantation, Possessed, etc. Just not the same music at all. Gojira are cool but are groove metal basically.

I'm not trying to dismiss your appreciation for these albums. It just doesn't make sense to say that SBG wouldn't even make your top 100 DM albums if the aforementioned two albums are included.

Even the later Death albums aren't really much for death metal (I love them all)
