"Death Magnetic would be a 3.5 if it wasn't for the production and the solos"
and the songwriting and the vocals

Yeah, I can agree there. The album in general gets pretty repetitive after a while anyway. I always thought the production sounded a little muddled as well

James' vocals sound awesome but yeah, the riffs are so repetitive and subdued all too often.

elitist!

Album Rating: 3.5
Does that make me an elitist? I thought that was the most unoriginal opinion a Metallica fan could have, hating on their 1990-2005 albums

album gets too much hate. as a heavy metal album it's up there with the classics of the genre. at least 5 classic songs on here, just too many mediocre ones mixed in.

Album Rating: 4.5
well yeah metallica's first three are maybe the greatest three album run in the history of metal. but this is awesome in a mainstream metal kind of way. same reason i like Mastodon's last two albums.

Album Rating: 4.0
Of course it's not. As long as someone doesn't compare it with the previous four, this is excellent.

A compromise in integrity is a compromise in integrity therefore this is the worst album ever made with some crackin tunes.

Album Rating: 4.0
I can't really tell if this album is the product of a compromise in integrity or simply the band's will to put out something different. Nevertheless, the reason for that might be my love for Metallica since this is the album that got me into heavy metal through a copied cassette of a friend of mine. However, I do prefer to focus on the crackin tunes.

That Some Kind of Monster doc answers all the questions in how this band operates dude.
