because faulting a band/album for being overrated is really you just going in saying "oh hey i know nothing of the band/album/genre but all these other people say it's good so i'm gonna listen to it and then get mad when it doesn't sound how i want it to"

that being said i am also very confused at the polarizing nature of this album because i really do not see anything inaccessible about it
Just because it is accesible does not mean that it can't be polarizing. Look at Death Cab for example, they're accesible, but I know a lot of people who either love them or loathe them. For me this album has some really good songs, and some that make me want to tear my hair out... pretty much like everyother animal collective album. Except this one has a few more of the good songs and the bad ones aren't as long.
