death in vegas, portishead, unkle, sneaker pimps, smoke city, koop, bonobo, amon tobin just a few who continued to release quality trip hop post mezz and pre amalgamation with downtempo music

none of which is at all redundant and just continues to push the genre forward towards what it is now, which is overlooked because the term 'trip hop' is often replaced with downtempo these days much like idm has pretty much masticated every genre term that preceded its use.
