"Varg gets a lot of shit too but his vox are perfect for the music.... you either get it or you don't"

"if Varg picked this back up again, how might he create a better album than those deemed "his best"? should he use shittier amps? muddier production? lazier screams? the guitar tone in this is already painful enough tbh"

Listen to transylvanian hunger. You'll think this was produced by rick rubin

lol, i'm genuinely not sure what else to say

black metal at that time was so astronomically different than it is today and it's almost impossible to accurately reflect the mindset of those that were creating it back in its heyday

varg's vocals are the product of him exorcising all of his demons. it isn't the typical BM vocal style and there have been a few since him to come close, but his are so genuinely tortured, raw, and real, i don't think anyone else will ever top them.

when the first four burzum albums were made, varg gave his life to black metal and his vocal style is very reflective of that.

It aint that interesting. And I like ambient stuff. I think it would have been better if it was the final track

yeah if you cut out the two decrepitude tracks this would be 1:1 with hvis lyset for me - a perfect 5

It's long, yes, but has tons of atmosphere. I think it suits the simple style of the bm songs very nicely.

if rundgang progressed in any way at all, i could respect it a little more. But it's literally the same thing repeated for 25 mins. At what point would more people start to take issue with its length? 30 min? 40? the length just seems so arbitrary when you're not doing anything with that space. it comes off as pretentious
