bit conflicted, the 2nd half picks up hard. Plan B is crazyyyyyyy omg

first half is still good, dont get me wrong but the songs feel so much longer than they need to be and perhaps a bit too aimless

Peak Shikari was 2010 to 2015 for me. Catching them live back then felt like a monumental experience lol. They're still great live now, but in a "reminiscing of the good times" kinda way.

Maybe Rou's mental health crisis back in 2015 changed their attitude a little

Didn't even realise he had a mental health crisis. I was chatting with Rou back on The Mindsweep tour, he was the most approachable guy out the band surprisingly (with the exception of Chris, he's super chill). Had a lot of time for us, even spoke about when he lashed out at some fan during a "crowdsurfing" incident. He had a lot of bad press from that, but I completely understood his reaction. Nobody should be pulling down a musicians trousers mid-show.

Yes, Rou had felt a lot of pressure and pushed on, self medicaring etc. When his gf broke up with him and his grandma died, things just went up for him back then. The musical outlet for this was The Spark, which is really powerful imo. (But that's okay, we all cope somehow.) My image of Rou is one of a humble, very chill guy, generally

There must still be interviews from when The Spark released. Rou talked about it quite a bit

This band made Attack Attack irrelevant on arrival

That explains the emotional undertones on The Spark. I wasn't too fond of it at first, but over time I appreciated it more. It is interesting the shift in direction since 2015, it does make a lot of sense to me now.
