Loic's entire contribution on "Pleistocene" is a perfect example

Pretty worth mentioning that they're ESL as hell, I've met Loic and one of the guitarists and their English was okay but not amazing, I always imagine the struggle it must be to write solid and coherent lyrics in a language that isn't native to you, especially when so many native speakers can't even do it. Loics can definitely be a little on the nose especially on like Helio/Anthro but Ive always thought he was a fine lyricist all things considered

Edit:typoed Loic's name literally every time lmao

When I saw them play all of Pelagial in like 2014 their guitarist that had recently joined the band whoms name I should know was sitting down at the bar after their set when I went down to get a drink and the bartender was explaining to him what hush puppies are and the way he just quietly repeated "corn fritters" with that thick accent will never leave my brain.

Highly recommend. Idk if anybody's familiar with the Atlas Moth but their screamy boi came out and did the massive screams in Cognitive Dissonance with Loic and it was one easily an all time concert highlight.

I'm so mad at myself that they played in my area last fall but I didn't realize until 2 months later. Welp, gotta wait for next tour and pray they're here again

the Phan II material was much more exciting live. even Jurassic/Cretaceous, which is already exciting.

I saw The Ocean and Katatonia late last year, and they did Jurassic/Cretaceous and it indeed kicked some major ass. But they DIDN'T bring Jonas out for his part! Like I know he's right backstage, go get him!

That's a missed opportunity, damn. He's right there! He can even come out to do "Nascent" if that's on the setlist.

Just saw a video of that in Romania 4 years ago, not only does Mike have some great scene chemistry with Loic but also crowd is going batshit crazy, loving every moment. Damn, wish I was there

Yeah, the space + paleontology post metal combo was really cool. They also had a bm band around, I think it was Downfall of Gaia (?), I can't remember...

Agreed, new album sounds a bit questionable so far, but I appreciate them changing up their sound for the Holocene.
