I actually had to double check that TWFM was in between HV and SWB. I just cannot accept that comment.

sleep well beast is easily their least enjoyable album... it might even be worse than their first 2. it has like 3 or 4 pretty good songs and the rest is completely forgettable

Exactly! It's just hipster dad rock music. Unless you are one of those people who are easily pleased with a well-sung baritone, remotely decent lyrics, and boring drumwork, chances are, you will not enjoy it.

I've jammed TWFM like 100+ times probably. It's close but I prefer Sleep Well Beast, more adventurous and experimental while not losing their emotional impact. It also ups the energy and instrumental performances which is a plus.

well it has three up tempo rock songs on it so there's some energy

Neefakat is probably a Paramore fan, so his definition of a record having energy is most likely different from us folks.

Basically half of SWB is gorgeous piano ballads sort of influenced by Radiohead at times, and the other half is a bunch of random mostly excellent rock songs. Really nice atmosphere throughout, and the production is great and sounds clearer than the murkiness of TWFM. Maybe the sequencing could've been better but it's not that big a deal.

^^100%, the song ordering is noticeably awful, takes away from each song.

Nothing wrong with being a Paramore fan.

Also SWB is incredible and one of this band's very best, why so much hate?

Because Alligator and Boxer have much better songwriting?

And don't even get me started on Paramore.

The only sequencing issue on SWB is “Turtleneck” but there was nowhere that would have made sense. Otherwise the sequencing is perfect. Unlike this album...

yes Sowing

I don't prefer SWB to Boxer, Alligator, or HV but it is underrated. The main sequencing problem is having the two weakest songs, Turtleneck and Empire Line, together in the middle. Turtleneck should've just been a bonus song or one-off single or something, or a live recording exclusive maybe. Doesn't fit with the rest

SWB is great, no doubt. I just couldn't put it over TWFM... it's a magical album.

I also haven't listened to SWB nearly as much, so.... who knows. Things do change.
