i've never really thought any of underoath's stuff was corny besides the overtly christian parts in the band's past. i cringe listening to some of these

i agree hard with that. even when i thought some of the christian parts were a tiny bit much, i could still see how a lot of people could enjoy them

I only heard the 2 singles and it sounds like they're trying to be an Alternative Metal band. Is this true?

Nvm, I just saw what happened and honestly, good. He was a fucking awful user that got into wrong losing arguments every time and just proceeded to childish insults.

This band is irrelevant now that they have dropped their Christian label. It defined the bands lyrics and themes. They have no purpose whatsoever now. I'm not a Christian myself, but the lack of passion and inspiration shows up in the music. At least before they had some conviction.

Meh it kinda does, a lot of the subject matter on the record seems to deal with their rebranding, it's definitely taken a front seat in their approach with this record.

On Lost in the Sound you could tell they were kind of struggling with faith and on Disambiguation it was pretty much out of the question, but at least it was interesting musically/lyrically

Well yea, and that's my point with this because it directly impacts the lyrics and theme of the record, half the songs seem to be about disowning their beliefs, which is fine, I don't care but it's clear it's a theme and a topic that this record retreads numerous times and it isn't a topic done well.

Really hated this on first listen. It's grown on me quite a bit though. If they would have just replaced Rapture and Wake me with interludes this would be at least a 3.5, those two are so bad.
