If you allow people who wear MAGA hats into your concert you allow them to express themselves at your event, you are giving them a voice on some level. No mental gymnastics there.
Funny how you say im playing mental gymnastics when I never said that allowing Trump supporters at your events means youre against freedom of speech. It just means youre giving tolerance towards people who support a man that tries to appeal towards people who spout intolerance. Not a hill I wanna die on but if you wanna die on it then go for it I guess.

Yes, cause Dems don't spout intolerance.
Wise sensei, educate me.

Lmao wtf should bands do? Screen people and ask about their political alignment and banish them from the show if they're a trump supporter?

"Lmao wtf should bands do? Screen people and ask about their political alignment and banish them from the show if they're a trump supporter? "
No because that would be unreasonable but making it vocal that you dont wish to have said people at your shows would be reasonable.

Maybe Keith should boycott his Republican lawyers, doctors, accountants...

You'd seriously bar people from your shows because their political ideologies don't match yours? That's insane. If they're racist or w.e then I can see it but trump supporters aren't inherently racist - some people focus on the actual politics and not his dumbass internet persona. I hate the conservative government here in Canada as they make the rich richer and the poor poorer but I wouldn't shut people out due to their alignment.

I just said that it would be unreasonable to full-on bar people. Just vocalize your lack of support.
|
| |
Lol why the fuck do you need to vocalize that you're not a trump supporter at a concert? Dumb.

You seem to be very unaware that people come from different backgrounds and ideologies. To close off someone for their difference in beliefs is ignorant in of itself.

Also based off your logic does every band have to make a statement on their thoughts on political leaders? Cause if so that's fucking ridiculous.

"You seem to be very unaware that people come from different backgrounds and ideologies."
Im not unaware of this. In what way am I even coming across as this? If you have a lack of support towards Trump then its fully reasonable to not want Trump supporters around you and giving them a voice despite your disagreement is contradictory to what you stand for if you have a platform. If a band feels as strongly as Keith does against Trump and his supporters then they would be contradicting themselves if they didnt vocalize their lack of support. Corey is just a normal conservative I dont know how for or against he is towards people who are far-right but if he is highly against people of whom are far-right (Which I am kind of assuming is a yes) then his stances are weak and he legitimately contradicts himself by being critical of what Keith said.
"To close off someone for their difference in beliefs is ignorant in of itself. "
Of course it would be. Ive never argued that we should distance ourselves from everyone that we disagree with. Thing is when you have a platform it can make a big difference. I see zero reason why a musician who doesnt want people who are for a president that tries to actively appeal to far-right people to be at their concert is anything ignorant. Its simply "I do not want to come off as supportive towards these specific people". You can disagree with people on specific things and still be okay with them yes but people can draw the line wherever they wish to. I am simply trying to explain why Keith is well reasoned to draw his line. Its not a matter of "I disagree therefore youre bad" its a matter of what those disagreements entail.
"Also based off your logic does every band have to make a statement on their thoughts on political leaders? Cause if so that's fucking ridiculous."
Never fucking said this one single time in the whole thread and never implied it. Bands can be apolitical if they want to.

He just said MAGA hats welcome afaik. I don't think he said to bring in crazed skinhead Nazis who believe non purebred whites should be purged so what bad thing is he platforming?
Besides it's obvious the quote was supposed to be a little comedic when he brought up duck dynasty shirts.

Keith said he didnt want MAGA hats and bigots in. Corey responded by being all MAGA hats welcome in response against what Keith said. Trump is a person who built a lot of his campaign by appealing to far-right people. If you are against far-right ideology then it really shows how bad your stances are if youre a person who has an auidience and is communicating that youre okay with people who support someone who actively tries to appeal to far-right.
I never said Corey was cool with skinheads, just that hes cool with people who are willing to support someone who gives skinheads more of a voice by actively trying to appeal towards them as a political strategy. Its contradictory. I dont know whether or not Corey is cool with full-on skinheads at his concerts and its irrelevant to the point im trying to get across regardless.
If you genuinely still cannot understand this then I have zero reason to bother continuing with this fucking bullshit.
Also being slightly comedic doesnt matter when your stances are clearly defined through the jokes. Jokes dont exist in a vacuum.
