Better does mean the original is bad. I love this record, but clearer production is 99/100 times a good thing. Sure it’s less forgiving cuz you can hear the nuances in the voice, but that’s the artists fault not the production style. Why the fuck would you pay for expensive equipment if sound quality was completely irrelevant lmao. Man fuck I’m gonna record my next album with a laptop speaker and throw away all my 300 dollar microphones.

I cant even tell what point you're trying to make here but yea, you're a moron

Ditto, friend.
Your argument revolves around thinking taking a professional approach with more expensive equipment somehow being a bad thing, so yeah enough said.

Imagine being 19 years old and wasting hours of your life every day calling internet strangers morons because they like an album that you don't

also feels like the riffs and general guitar production is cleaner... which works for most tracks, but i'm kinda missin the more aggressive nature of TDiO.

Yeah, their sound got a spit shine and I'm still trying to sort my feelings about it.

i think you're basing your reasoning on a basis that "high quality production = clean production" which is just downright wrong. @noler
High quality production needs to potentiate the sound of the artist first and foremost. if it's something like punk, a dirty, more lo-fi prod can actually elevate the sound.

ok last 3rd of this record is definitely more my shit.

Agree to disagree. I just think there’s a sentiment that better gear means selling out and sterilization which is also downright wrong. Obviously there are other factors that go into the recording process, but I’m strictly talking the utility of having better production equipment as you grow as a band. Seems like a natural progression to me, except a lot of people will give a band shit for doing that like they are “abandoning their original sound.”
And morbid stuff is a perfect example of an album that shows huge growth in their understanding of balancing and giving each track sufficient balance in the mix, without sacrificing artistic integrity. Which is a good thing!

Oh i get that... Thought u were talkibg about production methods, not production equipment. I agree that upgrading that stuff =/= selling out
