I wouldn't even put it in my top 100 death metal albums. I have to admit, though, that the drumming is about 80% of why I rated it as low as I did (3.5/5). I just find it to be really obnoxious, honestly

I wouldn't either, but I still can't argue with it lol.

If you hate Reifert's drumming then you're just not cut out for being a death metal fan

It's not Reifert's drumming, it's the way the drumming is produced.

Perfectly?

sbg is the most essential death metal album yea

Imo, it overtakes the other instruments a bit too much. Not as badly as in Tomb of the Mutilated, though. Idk, I think I've always been way too picky about the way metal albums are mixed... I wish there were more records produced in the Pleasure to Kill style (very full, lots of low end), rather than the thin, buzzy Anacrusis style

Weird nitpick for a guy who rates TSOP as #2

"If you hate Reifert's drumming then you're just not cut out for being a death metal fan"

It's basically elitist dickwads like you who made me want to disassociate myself with the metalhead label in the first place. Then again, I didn't expect any different from Mr. Snoxall
|

Labelling yourself as a metalhead is always a bad idea...

Nobody is defined by their enjoyment of one subset of music, man.

Album Rating: 4.4
Well yeah, and that's the other reason I stopped using the label. I didn't just want to be defined by only enjoying metal, especially since I actually prefer genres like alternative rock and jazz these days
