they are all over the place with their live quality. i've seen them at their worst, i've seen them average, i've seen them great, and 1 time they were absolutely amazing. you never know which mastodon you're gonna get. i think i've seen them 5 times at this point

i think they've gotten better with their crowd interaction. when i saw them on august 1st brent and brann talked to us a little during the show and they even played 2 extra encores (which i've never seen them do) after they already did their fake encore. i think their performances depend a lot on crowd reaction. if there is a great energy in the room they will respond
