for me, the broad scope and the near-perfect hit ratio make this a "greater than the sum of its parts" 5, probably the only one of that nature among the rest of my 5s

Yeah this is awesome because of the scope of the project as a whole. No individual EP is a masterpiece for me but taken as one enormous collection, and the journey through the colours... that's when it becomes truly special. If somebody could only listen to one "album" for their entire life, this would be the one I'd suggest to them.

My legend of a Dad went on a trip to the US this week and somehow found and picked me up a used copy of this on vinyl, best gift ever. Each EP is on a 10 inch and each 10 inch is coloured vinyl to match the respective EP. Coolest thing I own.

That sounds awesome.

Now see if he can track down a copy of The Color Spectrum Live DVD. One of the best concert movies I own.

Fuck it, one of the best movies I own in general.

God, I could just never really get into these EP's. So many of the songs are just bland and boring. The only ones I could really get into were Violet, Green, White, and maybe Red a little bit.
