this would be much better with more harsh vocals

Some of them could use a theory lesson or two. Then they could make some truly great albums.

The end of Dunsel is brutal imo.

This is a lot more varied in terms of theory compared to Fortress though. That album was pretty much all pentatonics and blues.
I think they made a fairly smooth progression into different scales and chord shapes with this one.

I actually agree taters.
However, I like the sound they have so 4.5 for every single album they come out with.

The album and band wore off on me for a while. It wasn't until my girlfriend noticed that Last Chance to Reason (a band I'm really starting to get into) and Scale the Summit are going to be playing with Protest headlining that I started getting into them again. And in a big way too. The new album has my favorite songs by them, but I still prefer a full listen of Fortress to a full listen of Scurrilous any day. And I'm so glad they'll be playing parts of Kezia on top of the other stuff. She's definitely more into them than I am (which is ironic because she likes a lot of pop and rap, but I guess I commend her for being more musically diverse than even I am) but I'm definitely starting to enjoy the idea that I get to see them live.

would love to see these guys live.
Kezia>Fortress>Scurr for me... just never got into this one as much as their first two

yeah i've been interested less and less with them with each album since Kezia. This wore off hard though, I even said it was their best album in my soundoff (that I later deleted).
idk maybe it's just that i have a really nostalgic connection with both Kezia and Fortress but not with this.

yeah, after 1-2 listens i thought this was their best... that obviously changed.
just kinda feels like they had a 3 record contract and they were like 'fuck it' after fortress

Fortress was such an amazing album for me. I must have listened to that thing every day for 4 months. PTH is one of the most talented, technical bands out there, but their lyrics suck so hard in Scurrilous. They have officially turned into the Nickelback of ProgMetal lyrically...shame.

He does use falsetto occassionally, but for the most part what he's doing is his head voice. Difference is the section in dunsel, "I don't mean this in a hateful way" is falsetto, and "the world gets harder"/most of the album, including the very difficult "I gotta get back to who I was" difficult high parts in tapestry that aren't coming to mind, etc. are all in his head voice. There seems to be confusion over which he's using from most people, and hell I might be wrong, but there is a clear distinction between the two, and his head voice sounds so much fuller.
