I think Goo is my favorite SY.

I'm in the middle of Goo currently, and I think I'm going to have to agree with you on that my friend. The cleaner sound is very welcome honestly. I know. Hot take...

Goo is for sure top 3 SY

Yeah, I'm starting to think my top 3 is Sister, Daydream, and Goo.

I don't know why, but I'm kinda drawn to Rather Ripped for some reason. Not their best by any means, but that's a personal favorite.

I've heard Ripped once. It was fine but it didn't stir me to the levels of a lot the earlier output. Still, I should check it out again.

Ripped is a pretty natural place for a charismatic listen. Focus is on riffs and melodies rather than noise making, so if that's your preferred mode for the band (i.e. preferring Goo over their earlier releases, especially pre-Sister), that seems like a natural extension

That's a good analysis actually. That is probably why I do like Ripped. Maybe I'm just a riff guy.
You'll be pleased to know that I came around on EVOL though. It was way better when I let it settle and payed attention to it. Expressway is one of my favorites from them now.

I feel like Goo still has a lot of noisy tendencies. I just love the forward momentum they bring to that album.

Agreed. It just tones it back a notch compared to other releases. Production and labels probably had something to do with that.

Nothing wrong with riffs or noise. I really love both flavors.
Fun fact, Neil Young said Expressway to Yr Skull is the best rock n' roll song of all time.

Oh yeah no judgement at all. The Youth don’t have a bad record to their name. Just got a bunch of different shades all over their Sonic (ha!) palette

Neil Young knows what's up. Can't say that I agree, but that's a pretty sweet fact.
Although it's their most well known, Teen age riot probably takes the prize if you are talking about their most important and best song.

Rather Ripped is an album that I'm always in the mood for. Also Incinerate is for sure in the upper pantheon of SY tunes

^And Goo rated higher than Sister or EVOL, the operative Ripped theory still holds

^ this is their best album because it combines the noise and the melodies more effectively than any of their other albums, they're at their best when they don't focus too hard on one or the other

This album feels waaaay shorter than it actually is, I guess that’s a telltale sign of consistent quality. Probably deserves a bump.

Heck yeah. Sick album! I was just listening to Washing Machine and EVOL today actually!
