I thought that Oceanic was their best for so many years, but this grew on me so much last year.

Maybe my lack of appreciation of Oceanic is partly due to the fact it was the last isis album i got around to checking out. Imo they only went up from there, and WR and ITAOT are by far my favorites by them.

I honestly don't understand why people would pick Absence and Wavering Radiant over Oceanic and Panopticon

Some people prefer the proggier, more melodic stuff.

Yeah Oceanic and Panopticon are both essentially perfect, Wavering Radiant is pretty close though. And I do love Absence and Celestial as well but they are probably #4 and #5 for me.

lsd has had a major influence on my taste in music. thats my justification for liking their last two more than this.

Same as above user. Isis on LSD and high end stereo(especially oceanic) was transcendental. As well as Deathspell Omega, Portal and Neurosis. Gorguts Obscura is fun on lsd too. If any person ask me what metal to listen to when on LSD, i'd say Obscura is the thing.

Oh man that, DSO, and don't forget Ulcerate!!!! Also Entropia's 2016 album Ufonaut is about dmt, i highly recommend that one for your next excursion too, Ocean. Some artists just bleed that otherworldly inspiration and it always shows.

Finally found a proper acid-metalhead here Also dont forget Blut Aus Nord Work which transforms the god, listening to this alone is so fuckin creepy.
