Still my preferred method of listening - the VLV/PM hybrid:
1. Life in Technicolor II
2. Viva La Vida
3. Rainy Day
4. Postcards From Far Away
5. Lovers in Japan/Reign of Love
6. Violet Hill
7. Prospekt's March/Poppyfields
8. Yes
9. Glass of Water
10. Strawberry Swing
11. Now My Feet Won't Touch the Ground
12. Death and All His Friends

Strawberry Swing is not my fave here (That's probably still "Violet Hill") butttttttttt that song grows on me every time and shows no sign of stopping so it may topple

“Violet Hill” is probably the weakest aside from the first three for me but it is great - being as rocking as it is it’s just on the verge of coming across as a bit cheesy/put-on for them.

Ehhhh I like it when bands reach outside their comfort zone, even if it's not always the best objectively. The guitar bite to their sound is a lot of fun (:

Yeah like I said it does work. Idk if a whole album in that style would for them though.
Just had to give “Strawberry Swing” a listen for the first time in a while and yep, it’s as great as ever. The outro section never fails to make me feel happy.

@Sowing, leaving “42” off that list is pretty wack, though fwiw I’m not familiar with Prospekt’s March. You do seem to agree with me that the back half of this has most of the meat though.

I feel deja vu right now. I don't recall 42 being cream of the crop across the 2 albums, but I also sort of forget what it sounds like because I listen to my own variation of the tracklist like 80% of the time. I'll revisit it even though I'm not expecting my mind to be changed.
And yeah, VLV has always been back loaded. For me, Lovers in Japan and onward is flawless.

Haven't heard this in years, but I defs remember 42 being a firm top 3 or 5 contender

I think we all had this conversation a year ago and it made me listen to 42 again and I didn't "get" it
I'm always excited to listen to Coldplay though so consider me willing to be disappointed yet again!

Oh did we haha, I think it almost made me relisten to this but then I flaked. Oops. It's a new year!

I would be interested in seeing what you'd rate this
Even people who hate Coldplay still like this
From the sounds of things you've already heard this but are just refraining from assigning it a value, which the odds suggest are actually helping the average so perhaps I shouldn't twist your arm

Hahaha tbh I'd be excited to revisit this - I've heard the whole thing at least twice, but know Violet Hill and Viva La Vida inside out from my childhood (and both of them are comfortably among my favourite Muse tracks); I'd be disappointed if I revisited and ended up 3ing it, say

I'm gonna predict now that you'll give it between a 3.5 and a 4 ;]

always liked "reign of love" but I think "chinese sleep chant" took it over and those are my two favorites and they're both hidden track-y second halves of songs lol
