@Artuma Part of what makes prog music prog music is unconventional times signatures and skill. But a lot of it has to do with the lyrics too so that's only part of it.

there are different kinds of prog, e.g. the Dream Theater kind of prog and the Pink Floyd kind of prog. it's a broad genre

Yea Pink Floyd is a more psychedelic prog and there are bands like Tool who added a metal edge to it. It's so diverse and different which is why I love it. It's a tough genre to tackle too so one needs a certain degree of skill to play it imo
