That is a concept I simply cannot comprehend. Unless you're talking about the singing

I mean, I did enjoy their music(Under a Glass Moon's solo is just perfect for guitarwank mood), but progressively got bored of their sound and style. And yeah never got into LaBrie's singing tbh.

@Talons: odd that you criticized LaBrie's vox and have this 5'd. I guess you're a strange breed of fanboy.

I mean, JT doesn't have any DT 5'd if I remember well and he defended LaBrie.

Yeah I'm criminally lenient in my ratings for DT, they were one of the first bands to really open my eyes musically when I started listening to music so it's a bit of a nostalgia thing for me. In my defense he sounds the least annoying on this record imo

He was actually more than great on I&W and Awake and pretty good up to this album.

I'd say he was only really great on Images and Words. Even on Awake there are some notes where you can tell he's straining.

I can understand why people find Labrie's voice/vocal style annoying bit he was a great (and I'd even say gifted) singer. He sounds good on all of their 90's stuff tbh.

Was being the operative word

He definitely had his irritating moments but he could have some great ones just as easily

My extreme metal loving friend was very impressed by Dream Theater's musicianship (obviously), but didn't like James LaBrie's voice. Maybe it just takes some getting used to, but he does have a pretty impressive range.

I remember when I first heard his voice years ago and I hated it so much. My dad's excessive plays of Systematic Chaos got me used to it in the end so I completely agree

We're never gonna agree on LaBrie JT, although we don't agree on (Jon) Anderson either. Vocal taste is subjective anyways.
