Is it because the melody is good or because it's so loud tho?

Also I think you might be missing the point a Brand New. they're not the best at what they do because they are the best musicians in technicality (their damn great ones though) but because they deliver emotional feelings through their outstanding songwriting like no other band can.

The melody dude, I usually turn the volume down at that part anyway.

Also with your earlier comment about Nirvana, that's like saying that if Smells Like Teen Spirit's guitar wasn't loud and aggressive that it would still be just as good of a song, it wouldn't that's for sure.

I know ITAOTS is one of my favorite albums, i'm not talking about technicality. And also not just the loudness but the production in general, the crispness.

Oh well I guess it's just imo.

That's true, but in that case (as with all rock) loud distorted guitars are part of the genre. But with Brand New it seems they make it so absurdly loud just to distract you from the "pretty good" songwriting and make it seem great.

I mean compare these to songs, play the loud parts at the same time:

Teen Spirit doesn't need to be ear drum murdering to maintain its impact.

"Imo this is because the song isn't impactful due to the quality of the melody and notes that are being played, but

just the loudness."

So you're saying the song is impactful just because it's loud? It isn't because of Jesse's powerful delivery or hard hitting lyrics or anything like that? It just doesn't sound like you're looking at Sowing Season as a song, but more of a loud collection of soundwaves. But still, to each his own.
