Yes, it's average. but I have found it alot easier to listen to after seeing them live in The Black Crusade. I don't know why, maybe the way they sound live, or how they work the crowd.

I like old Trivium and yes, most radio bands (i.e. FOB, P!ATD, Simple Plan) are much worse, but this is so shitty compared to what they are capable of.

At the risk of sounding like an open minded fool, why does everyone who likes old school thrash beat these guys up for playing old school thrash? While not mindblowing, this album has some solid songs and is pretty fun. And this is coming from an over thirty metal head, not a 14 year old.

Because kids today think they know everything about everything that has to do with metal, especially the purist assholes. Your view on this album is exactly what I see in it too. There are far better copycat thrash metal bands out there than Trivium but I also view Trivium as a jump start into thrash metal for people who know nothing about the genre. I didn't find them entertaining live at all. Their light show was really gay, plus the music is just completely unoriginal and worth half a crap.

sounds EXACTLY like Metallica. Heafy's vocals, the guitars. I sure do hope their future material isn't like this. They should totally go back to the Ember To Inferno/Ascendancy-type stuff.

I agree with everyone who say's the album sounds similar to early Metallica. Though, while this is not original of course, I really like it.
The guitars are great, and unlike on the previous albums I actually like the singing on this album.
Ah well, it's just a matter of opinion.

Or they can just listen to early Metallica, which is miles ahead of any Trivium.
I can see this, but Trivium is much more accessible for people getting into the genre. Thats why I give these guys props. Plus they play better than any asshole on this site too.
