I was high as fuck and the halftime show was a religious experience. I was legit tearing up

“For the SB I hope Kendrick does that thing he does where he live debuts an unreleased song.”

Said this back in page 41 of this thread and I sure was not disappointed lol. He OPENED with an unreleased song. That’s crazy and right on brand. The whole ht was Kendrick intentionally doing a rap show. Fuck a Super Bowl. Loved it.

I was wondering what that opening was, that's so sick

Need to see it. Was it better than the one he did at few years back?

I would definitely say yeah, I really liked the one a few years back but this definitely edges it out

idk if its true but i've seen people point out the "unreleased" song he opened with is actually the same song from that trailer he dropped like an hour before the album

It is the same song from the GNX trailer

think it was really curious/interesting how unsentimental that set was... not just the almost exclusive gnx-era song selection but the guests being sza and mustard and basically nobody closely associated with him pre-2024

also thinking that's more than likely the last time he performs not like us, and think the decision to not close with that song and transitioning to tv off (a very similar song seemingly written exactly for that moment) kinda symbolized him moving on

no black hippy was so incredibly lame and definitely a sign of his interests and career now sadly

honestly, good for him! he's earned every right to just relax and write fun bangers for a bit

No songs from his two best albums was definitely a choice.

He says in interviews he likes to be in the present as much as he can, which completely explains the setlist

Yeah it’s def the song from the GNX trailer but it’s still unreleased as of yet and he added to it.

Also I think the show was pretty explicit about why he chose the setlist he chose.

imagine if every artist just played the old hits instead of their very good and very relevant new material.

Like, that applies to legacy acts that have been putting out dogshit, and even tho Kendrick is not in his prime anymore the dude is still literally top of the game and Not Like Us is by far his most popular song so idk what anyone expected. You want him to play Poetic Justice or something lmao

holy shit thank you, i've been a bit flabbergasted by people complaining about how he mostly played newer material
