Some of the lyrics on this are very cringeworthy but I always find myself being more drawn to the intensity of this album over the others

I’ve been trying to listen to this album for the last couple of months but I just can’t get into this even though I really want to. Its just that I hate the fact that I love bands like letlive., the blood brothers, will haven and drive like jehu but I don’t understand why this gets a lot of hype. I just need someone to tell what I’m missing or if it’s possible to let this grow on me

so it's honest for that, at least.

the melodies are GREAT though, my favorite is the chorus part in Siberian Kiss, favorite part of this album, so catchy and emotive

''On phone lines and letterhead, I'm dying about'' love how he sings that part

In most major US cities, rent is too damn high. On top of paying for bills, mortgage payment, paying down debt, and life expenses it makes economical sense for families to bond together and have a multi generation household.

I'm about to hit 30 and have a significant other, work a full time job, but happen to live in a very high COL area and if I were to move out the commute would likely take twice as long to live in an overpriced apartment.

I'd love to move out in the near future, once I can afford to put a down payment on a house, I don't know how people honestly make it living in these overpriced major cities like DC, New York, California, etc on their own and get ahead.

Right now I'm currently paying rent of $1500 a month to my parents not including utilities and food, and it feels much better to pay that kind of rent to family and saving for a house rather than to be living in an apartment not to mention the money stays within the family so people you know can benefit from it over a landlord. Not to mention I'm also taking care of my grandmother who lives with us.

When in the event I do end up getting married, it still might take another 1-2 years to save up for a house at the current rate I'm going combined with my SO's savings, starter homes in my area run for about 500000-600000 and it seems financially irresponsible to be paying that money out the door but for an apartment instead of owning.

I get a lot of people shaming me for living with my parents house as an adult which I totally get, but at the same time it's not like I'm this loser who does drugs with no earning power and no education/career.

American culture is you move out when you're 18 for college, and never move back at home when I think the whole family is missing out on a lot of family bonding and leaving tons of money on the table. Even paying rent to your parents, you're at least not giving that money away to somebody else. In my culture (Asian culture) it's normal to live with your parents until you get married, and even some time after to save up for your first house and when your parents are aging they might actually live with you and help you take care of your kids which is a great model economically because everybody saves tons of money and assuming you get along with them spending time with the people who raised you.

Yeah agreed - no shade on them given that they've squared up to it, but also this is something I feel comfortable imagining incels-in-waiting the world over jamming. Siberian Kiss fking rips, sometimes my favourite Glassjaw song. Also love love love this t/t

@Eons

Not that I necessarily condone either one of those things but I’m simply addressing the double standard that everyone is aware of.

Disclaimer: this is based on generalizations but it still holds some truth.

If you think about it, the reasoning behind why men get high fives for getting lots of women into bed and women get “slut shamed” makes some sense. Women have a MUCH easier time getting sex and attracting men than vice versa. Even below average looking women will have an advantage getting a man to sleep with her than an average guy getting a woman to sleep with him. Women (and men) inherently know this and therefore when you see a promiscuous woman who changes bed partners every other weekend it’s easier to judge her for it because it’s not viewed as an accomplishment - other women can get just as many partners if that’s something they desired. Men on the other hand have a much harder time partnering up because their mating pool is smaller. When men are able to attract many women and actually get them into bed, it’s recognized as an accomplishment (particularly among other men who understand the difficulty in doing this).

Again, this is all based on generalizations. I know many men AND women struggle with this but every time I hear this “unfair” double standard brought up I can see why it exists.
