It's a legitimately terrible take. Apart from early puscifer I cant think of anything he's done that's worse than this.

I actually like this a lot. It's really catchy. I know they've done *better* but this is my most listened to APC.

"The 'we live in a society....' bits are what hurt this release for me, for example on “Disillusioned,” alternatively titled: Cell Phones and The Youth – Information Desensitization and Subsequent Erosion of “V” for Values – An MJK Retrospective. There are other moments like this, that just feel disingenuous and leave a bad taste in the mouth, regardless of their legitimacy as opinions or one's right to make art about them. While there are certainly exceptions to the rule, Old Dude 'cloaking' political views in music (TalkTalk and Hourglass, for example) is a tired practice, and keeps on hitting the snooze button. A shame, as there are some good lyrical ideas here and the album stands on its own feet."
what a great copypasta
If i may say so, change old dude to "old white dude" and it's a 10/10

TalkTalk's lyrics are great.

it's more specific than that, it's about religious politicians who say things like "thoughts and prayers" after a shooting/tragedy but don't actually do anything to prevent it. it's relevant and avoids being annoyingly heavy-handed because it's clearly something Maynard cares about.
do you have the same problem with the lyrics of Judith?

This is one of the slowest growers i’ve ever heard. Currently my second favorite APC album. So much texture here

It's a parody of itself. You really can trust a book (or record) by it's cover.

My most listened to APC is Mer De Moms, but I think I've listened to this (at least with the re arranged tracklist I made) more than Thirteenth Step for some reason.

^Did you get to listen to it? At first I really hated it but as Sowing mentioned early in the thread the tracklist is all over the place and has zero flow as it is. It's still better than eMotive, yes.
