I don't know why but I have this band (or had this band) confused with another band who were absolutely awful, this band is pretty good but the other band had a similar name but was an awful Protest the Hero type band. I can't remember the band's name though. It was noodly wankery though. Cult of something, or Veil of something maybe.

This is the best CoL record yet. Bringing Julie C on board was such a genius idea. SAtH and Salvation can compete but these crazy witchy vocals make Mariner stand out so much, unique album

There are few things holding this from absolute perfection for me, screamed parts are totally crushing and the synths are delicious, but for example the middle part of Cygnus is basically Ghost Trail revisited, and the whole Approaching Transition just isn't that much of a banger, especially compared to Dim for example (which is the best CoL song ever, of course).

So, not their best for me, but still an amazing kick ass album.

Honestly Veil of Maya sometimes seems like the height of that genre to me. Still mostly ass, but at least they have some defining features.

Also, never forget Godsmack is named after a far superior band's song.

Didn't think so as the songs would be missing such a key part, but thought it would be odd to entirely exclude perhaps their most popular album.

Shame

they won't exclude Finland so it won't be as odd as you think

Thanks, I'm not that well acquainted with their discog so now I'll know to focus on the 'solo' albums to get that hype going

I've seen them once and they played a lot of songs, probably about 90 mins or so. They were the headliner though.

The Wreck of S.S Needle is my favourite of all Julie Christmas related songs
