i just think that in the future dudes like MAz and lil b will be seen as the godfathers of post-internet rap music. i don't think they'll ever be a household name but i don't think it's too farfetched to imagine a young rapper in the future rediscovering this kind of record and running with the sound. think what sgp and others did with the three 6 mafia sound, which you hear EVERYWHERE now, even though during their time they flew relatively under the radar.

if you want evidence of how far their influence has already spread just look at how successful ASAP rocky has been, essentially jacking the cloud sound from bay area rappers and mixing in some equally trendy houston influence (another sound that was popular only regionally until this new generation of rappers rediscovered and popularized the dj screw sound).

oh dear god lol please no
and no i'm not saying that they aren't influential. and i don't doubt some young rapper in the future could rediscover
something like this and play off of it. but the way you put it earlier sounded like you were saying u thought MA were
going to go all eminem status or something which doesn't really follow through into these last two posts here.
but really, 20 years is a long time. of course there will be people they reach down the line but think about hip hop 20
years ago to now even. the mass majority knows their de la soul and their tribe called quest and all the other huge
artists but thats about it until you look at more specialized audiences. same thing goes for any genre really, i mean
amon duul sure isn't a house hold name but the whole world knows rush. i see these guys as more of an amon duul and
kanye as a rush. excuse the awful comparison, im not commenting on quality, just fame haha. amon duul is specialized
but also massively influential in their own right where rush is that one prog band that every one and their mom has heard
of, not to detract from their influence either (and boy do i hate to admit to recognizing kanye as influential *shudder*)
also if these guys went down in history before cLOUDDEAD i would be very upset lol
