(2).
This is also disappointing (by their lofty standards), but I can't fault them for the intention. At least it feels like a complete and distinct release, it just doesn't quite hit me as hard as their past material.

Ye I'm kind of intrigued by the themes and by the title of this release, would love to find a place to read more about it.

Just so ridiculously underrated because if their untouchable discog. This is a GREAT album
I like fires too but I don;t go back to it much. 'Ending like a fart' though? Nah. 'Reach' is dope.
This has like 'We all rage in gold' 'At the well' 'Casting of the ages' 'Heart of deliverance' which are ALL stellar tracks.

'Just so ridiculously underrated because if their untouchable discog. This is a GREAT album'
I don't see what substance this remark has, I could just as easily say certain people overrate this because it has Neurosis' name slapped on the cover. It works both ways.
If you find it to be underrated, that's fine, let's just not pretend we can see into the minds of other people. There are bound to people who do think like that, but I can't see it being any sort of consensus and even if it was, how can you tell? 3.7 is a very solid average.

Its without doubt a concenceous. You could make your argument for every time something was mentioned as over rated/underated just as you can saying all music is relative to the person so nothing can be good/bad. You could say its overrated because its Neurosis but you would be wrong because its not. Honour is seen as a downgrade in Neurosis discog by many. Its was widely seen as 'meh' by reviewers AND fans when it came out and still now. As a stand alone record that if it wasn't a neurosis album it would be loved much more but when you've set the bar so damn high of course it effects what you put out. I've seen neurosis 11 times and followed them for 18 years and in 5 different countries i know some of their crew and some of the band. Ive been around Neurosis and neurosis fans and had conversations with them for half my life and everyone I know (the majority I should say) Under rate this record. Thats how i make that conclusion not by a sput average. When talking about this record with people who love Neurosis there is a general feeling of 'its just alright' I would say thats also confirmed by lists on here and by the Neurosis groups on FB and the like who regularly seem to be
'i didnt like this when it came out' I find this to be one people like when they get older strangely.

@Deezer: I didn’t listen to Neurosis (or much music in general) for many years, I don’t have a clue what you’re talking about re reviews or ‘consensus’. I was so far detached from such things at the time that there’s no way I could be swayed. Could it happen for some people? Sure. I’m just arguing that it’s not necessarily the reason people don’t like this as much as ‘they should’.
I haven’t actually read a single Neurosis review, but nice narrative.

Demon what the hell are going on about mate? 'I’m just arguing that it’s not necessarily the reason people don’t like this as much as ‘they should’.
Who said it was?? Who said anyone 'should' ? And What are you talking about 'being swayed' by reviews/Opinion?? I never mentioned that in the slightest so that wasnt my 'narrative' at all and whether you personally read any reviews etc is completely Irrelevant.
Do I need an actual ratio with provable statistics collected since the album came out to use the word 'Underrated'? You're telling me you dont think ANY band you like has an Underrated album?? This record was much better than was given credit for at the time and still today and of the hundreds of Neurosis fans Ive conversed with over the years at shows ,at home, online the general feeling about this record is the same among MANY and that underwhelming feeling is indeed because of the amount of perfect albums they released before it. Of course it is. That bar is so high. And many dont give this the props it deserves because its not Times of Grace 2 or something. Thats my data. Thats what I base that opinion on. You don't need to 'pretend to read peoples minds' to know how an album is regarded and generally looked upon amongst a bands back catalogue and legacy. Stop being so anal.
