He was the most versatile for sure but idk about the best.
I think Collins is a better vocalist myself. He does a killer job on A Trick of the Tail.

I think Phil was much better as a drummer than vocalist

Dude there's no comparison between his vocals and his drumming prowess.

I'd agree there.
As far as songwriting goes though, PG wins but it's just a matter of taste.
If you prefer a more commercial sound, Collins wins.
Peter has a bit of both and he does the mainstream stuff and the experimental stuff far better IMO.

Overall, as a vocalist, PG> Collins

by soooooo far.
|

Yeah it's not even a contest.
|
| |
but here's the real question, was phil better at drumming than peter was at singing?
YESYESYESYES!!
|
| |
Phil was an awesome drummer but Gabriel is one of my favourite prog vocalists so I dunno.
|
| |
i really need to get onto hearing melt. My opinion on the aforementioned topic is invalid until i do.
|
| |
Yeah Melt is awesome, get on that. My favourite vocal performance of his is on The Lamb though.
|
| |
gotta love the lamb bro. The intro vocals to 'in the cage' run through my head surprisingly often.
"I got sunshiiiiine in my stomach, like i just rocked my baaabyyy to sleep."
The second disc is still sinking in for me, haven't spun it as much as the first tho.
|
| |
The second disc takes more listens to fully appreciate but now I actually prefer it to the first. The Lamia is the best song ever.
