Still haven't gotten the full effect from this album. I just love Shrines so much more

Album Rating: 4.5
shrines is a full barrage and if that was your first exposure to the band then yea I can imagine this feeling slightly less explosive and captivating
either way give it time cuz most of the tracks here stand with the rest in quality

yeah and even Shrines took a couple listens. Yield to Naught, t/t, There are no Saviours, Chasm of Fire... shit even End the Hope and Abrogation annihilate your face. So yes the whole album
Definitely bumping this up .5 after another listen m/

this was my intro to the band so Fire and Shrines feel a little overwhelming and one-dimensional in comparison. in a...4.5 kind of way.

This has the most replay value out of their back catalogue imo.
Still heavy as hell but less cacophonous than their other albums.

frenly reminder that omens is the best song ever made

Yep, although every song on here is its own beast.

I feel like Jac probably docked this half a point just to ensure that EiF is quantitatively their best album.
|
| |
Of all my 4.5s this is among the 5'est
I kinda hope they give this style another crack one day cause with the grasp of pacing they showed on Shrines I reckon they'd nail it

Any album that has Saint-Merat on it is a 4+ by default.

Cold Becoming is still probs my favorite death metal song. "Close to A World Below" isn't far behind.
