I get the feeling they've lost this kind of humour:

s/t is definitely their worst. I don't get why so many people seem to consider FII their worst (after WDADU) To me s/t is just so much worse in every way; at least FII had decent songs and some awesome ideas

Top Comment:
"it was not about the lack of drumming skills when MP left DT.... is was and still is the lack of creativity when it comes to songwriting, concepts and melodies, which makes MP the better fitting DT drummer"
Couldn't agree more

Is he saying that Mangina is just as skilled at drumming as Portnoy but that MP is better for DT because he's more creative? Maybe I'm just stupid but the way it's worded is confusing

but then again, who gives a fuck?

It would take a miracle for DT to produce another great album and Mike Portnoy is not that miracle

[Consistently] good DT died in 2001
Their 2000s albums has some of their best songs, but just as much shit too

Died in 2005 you mean, and had a brief rebirth in 2009 before returning to the grave 4 years later

No, Octavarium and BC&SL are both overrated. DT in 2000 are enjoyable, but just that.

Octavarium is bland besides panic attack and the second half of t/t, BC&SL is probably top 3 best post-6DEG

Panic Attack has a cool intro. T/T is decent but not top 5 DT epics. Length doesn't equal quality (...)
BC&SL I just can't reach. Seems recycled ideas over again.

Octavarium has The Root of All Evil and Sacrificed Sons though...

The only part of root of all evil that stands out to me is the instrumental break. And Sacrificed Sons
has some cool instrumental parts but I can't really listen to it because the idea of making a prog
epic about 9/11 really rubs me the wrong way and just pisses me off

I thought it's about terrorism in general, like In The Name of God?
