Two of their biggest classics for sure.

Indeed. They were both way innovative in reenforcing the metal sound back in 76.

That driving riff in Tyrant was prob imitated by dozens upon dozens of guitarists.

Honestly it's one of my fave riffs ever.

A YouTube friend of mine mentioned how proto-thrash the song sounded, and he owns every officially released Priest album except Rocka Rolla, an omission I am very curious about.

That's curious indeed. I'm actually one of the very few who loves RR on
the site; I feel it has a unique charm. Most either hate it or consider it
meh though.

I probably need to jam it more, but I remember liking it when I first heard it.

Sweet man. Glad to see you found something in it.

I have some unusual opinions when it comes to this band, but hey, better to be dissident than blind sheep.

It was not nearly as bad as other debuts to me though.

What's one of your least fave debuts Snow?

By debut standards, Rocka Rolla was definitely better than some other bands' first albums.

Well, Shades of Deep Purple, although pretty good, was severely blown out of the water by In Rock just two years later. It's

strange how my favorite of the three major 70s hard rock/heavy metal pioneers released the weakest debut. I guess

Frequency Unknown would be a great candidate for the worst debut from an artist I actually like, considering FU is now

considered a Geoff Tate's Queensryche album. I have yet to hear Pantera's debut, but I don't expect it to be that great either.

Metal Magic is just atrocious. You probably shouldn't bother with it. There's a reason fans like to think of Cowboys From Hell as the first Pantera album.

Haven't heard SoDP in a long time, but fair claim.

It's funny how DP did so many things musically in just 7 years.

And yeah, FU is garbage.

I believe Scorpions' debut wasn't too special. But I haven't heard it yet.

Cowboys from Hell may as well be, even if Power Metal has some good songs. Nonetheless, as the musically curious person I am, since I adored Cowboys from Hell, I would like to eventually finish their discography. FU is garbage [2] indeed, and Deep Purple sure was very diverse, productive, and talented in their early days.

FU blows, but DtC is worse.

Both are pretty terrible. I have FU at a 1 and DtC at a 1.5 myself.

If I could give DtC a 0.5, I would.
