Sonemic's new chart system destroys everything this site has. This site has a smaller community though which I feel makes it a more social website. I know most of the frequent users on this site by username, I couldn't name you 8 from RYM.

@Clay, I should prolly clarify I dont think bands in the "dad rock" stereotype are bad (for the most part) but they fit the stereotype of conceited users who cant give any post 2005 album an average beyond 3.6 stereotype well. I mean, at least sputnik has the decency to include four hip hop albums in it's all time top 100.

Ahh i see, fair enough dude. Zak must irk the fuck out of you then.
|

also sputnik's only pro with its charts is the fact that a lot of row rated albums find themselves in high rankings because this website's algorithm doesnt exist. So I can find a lot more albums I havent otherwised heard of through it.
Also Ive been meaning to check sonemic, I hear its the tits.

You are generalizing us oldies lovers m8
Also Sputnik>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>RYM

They only have beta for the charts up right now which is understandably very glitchy at the moment. A new feature lets you see lists sorted by albums with the most ratings which most of the time is better than the "top" lists. Particularly pop punk

Also soon we'll have Glitchwave, video game version of RYM which I'm very interested in

@SirLord
I was generalizing RYM and /r/music users more, since I associate a lot of them with dad rock people, but you know that sputnik loves you so it doesnt matter!

Really? I actually think RYM destroys dad rock since I see them as a bunch of elitists, I can't think of them prasing, let's say, Kansas

made an rym one time sput was down. havent used it much since.
i guess rym is technically the better site, but sputs userbase is so much better

Kansas owns three bolded albums and their averages are pretty solid save for their 80s run (and lets be honest, what 70s band didnt have a horrible 80s run?) Maybe im mixing up dad rock with generic choices that happen to be older, I dont know. But I see a lot of love for the "obvious" older stuff on RYM than most other stuff.
|
| |
also I opted to use RYM as my rating database and primary discovery tool, its a pretty sweet website when you dont click the "community" tab.

"No Radiohead thread? Let's right that wrong!" is the name of a thread i saw one time in the community section where there was another thread called "A Moon Shaped Pool vs. Blackstar"
well done

Oh yeah this album exists.

Yes, you can preview the charts and that's it
|

This is terrible ahah.

I thought the album was... okay, if a bit bloated. I still really enjoy "East Jesus Nowhere" and "Peacemaker", and to a lesser extent, a handful of the other ones from time to time. This was a great review though, very persuasive.

Relistened for the first time in a while and I thought of something
This album probably sounded way worse if you listened to it when it came out, especially if you really liked AI
