so I was wearing my Brand New shirt the other day, and this teacher never heard of them before but was interested in them. He played The Quiet Things That No One Ever Knows in front of the whole class and everyone hated it, and the teacher had the nerve to tell them that I was the one who liked the song, and now everyone knows I listen to shitty music.

lol I'm cringing just reading that, that sounds like a middle school nightmare enjoy never recovering from that experience and still waking up in cold sweats decades from now just remembering it

That happened to me twice in middle school. The first time, I once played In Too Deep by Sum 41 in front of the class and this snobbish, stubborn girl demanded to turn the song off and play Justin Bieber. The second time, I played Just Like You by 3DG in my art class and just about the entire class (except for this one kid who was obsessed with 3DG) objected to the song and we listened to the Glee Season 1 soundtrack. I think in high school, people are more lenient to your music taste because I got to play Degausser in my Italian class and the class was fine with it. :D
