"try some Paysage d'Hiver, that is bad production"
Low-fi, but I think it's perfect for what it's trying to do. Claustrophobic, oppressive, like being caught in a blizzard. Crappy production would be like Judas Priest's new album, where it's supposed to epic and powerful but the guitars sound like they were recorded in the next room over and it's so thin that the riffs have no oomph.

No matter how much I enjoy this, the album's production still remains laughably bad to me. I know black metal isn't about having a high production value whatsoever, but cmon...
lol check out nattens madrigal

Nattens Madrigal actually hurts to listen to sometimes. Literally, the timbre of the guitars is to
treble-y that it causes my eardrums pain. I just want to run a damn low-pass filter on them and get
on with it.
But those riffs are so good that I listen anyway.

i enjoy the remaster pretty much the same amount as the original one. i don't jam nattens too often but for certain situations the production is absolutely perfect

I'm so used to production like this now that BM just sounds fucked without it. I'm sure that's how most BM fans are.

i think bfd is its own beast. i also think it's the best metal album ever along with Melissa, so yeah.
it's just so hard for me to rank genre classics, especially when it comes to metal

I can easily state my fave album of a respective type of metal, but yeah after that it gets tough, and it comes more
down to the style of an album.
