yeah i kind of rejected viva la vida for a period not for being bad or anything but because i had horrible memories associated with that song. great album otherwise and the title track warmed up eventually lol

i remember back when i was in my school choir, and i think looking back this was a telling sign of things to come, i was peeved that my teacher wouldn't give me the alto lines because I wanted to sing higher and they just made me sing Viva La Vida in a low ass range I wasn't comfortable with so I sorta developed a negative association between that song and my experience in choir

I could see a bad experience like that leaving a bad taste in your mouth for sure. Even though I can't name them off the top of my head right now, I know there's songs out there that I don't like simply because of having terrible experiences in orchestra trying to play modern music as a classically-trained musician.

In my opinion, Viva La Viva was their last truly good album. Strawberry Swing had my heart for the longest time, though I couldn't tell you why.

Everything up to and including VLV is great music. It's been all downhill for Coldplay since then.

Man their early stuff was like junk food level stuff for me. Fun to eat sometimes, but obviously no sustenance. This one is like trying to eat sand. Previously they could at least feign mysticism with their lyrics but this shit is just clunky tumblr level shit now.

Guice! Guice! Tilian Pearson says Vessel will go down in rock history with John Lennon! Lmfao.

"I think Vessel is going down in rock history like John Lennon, Thom Yorke, Trent Reznor, Kurt Cobain. You can fight me about it, but he will"

Claimed he's the best singer/songwriter of the generation.

Given what Tilian considered good songwriting based on the last 3 DGD albums, not shocking he thinks Vessel is the best.

Maybe him and Vessel will get sucked into a black hole so nobody ever has to hear their god awful embarrassing excuses for music ever again.

Tilian’s always been propped up by better musicians. He was good in tides of man tho

"think Vessel is going down in rock history like John Lennon, Thom Yorke, Trent Reznor, Kurt Cobain"
this is such a gen-z coded bloodless 'rock' canon i want to make out with an exhaust pipe (no disrespect to any individual musicians who don't have the letter R in their initials)

yeah but there isn’t any discussion of who would be considered high caliber musicians for the ‘10s-‘20s

Oh boi uh Josh Homme, Zakk Wylde, Gene Simmons, Dave Grohl and ig Billy Corgan if we're talking pioneering buttage (part of me ventured Buzzo, but I wouldn't dare)
if we're talking about 00s post-grunge babymen, that's another story
