Did you all know Finn McKunty has a favorite Crazy Town and it's not Butterfly?

the thing that gets me is, the only version on Spotify is a censored version but it only censors words like fuck and shit meanwhile there's gratuitous uses of the N word all over left uncut.
imagine making a censored version for the walmarts that kids get music at, and then in the second actual song, on the way home, you hear "Of any [n word] they see that [n word] could be me" COMPLETELY UNCUT. Those moms were probably pissed.

I just get the feeling people are being needlessly hyperbolic when there's loads of terrible music out there
like, Psycho Synner exists and we're here acting like this is the crime against humanity. Cmon.

^ true, but I think the hyperbole went both ways this time around tbh

Fair enough tbh. For me it's just tugging at all the right strings for me, and if the vocals were more akin to my usual style and they cut some of the fat I'd have likely 5'd this by now
But even if this isnt the greatest thing I respect it for being daring. I feel the same way with new Avenged Sevenfold, although I'm faaarrrrr more neutral on those new songs.

nothing about this feels daring to me (only made it through the first 5 songs tho couldnt stomach anymore. genuinely has one of the worst vocal performances ive heard on a big release). the way they blend everything together feels so safe and sterile that theres barely any dynamics or life or contrast or anything
new a7x songs are also terrible but i can def respect them more bc they are so fuckin weird for a band of that tier of success

i mean they put them all together in an accessible format that doesn't cross the line of "so weird that it literally sounds like anti-music ala trout mask replica" but still has a dynamic feeling to it that I don't usually hear in pure "metal".
"new a7x songs are also terrible but i can def respect them more bc they are so fuckin weird for a band of that tier of success"
I sort of want to hate them because I'm sick of being straddled with the "AgentDeathbat" name and even sick of this current name but something about them just feels like it'd be better with better vox.

right but all of that just sands down every bit of what its trying to do so intensely towards the middle that it results in sound and songwriting that actually does warrant the imagine dragons comparisons. like if theyre gonna try and push their sound so far id much rather it not feel this homogenous, which there are def ways of doing that without it sounding like """anti music""". but with how standard and safe it feels here its like what even is the point lol

Yeah I don’t waste my time on the obvious disasters you can see from a mile away (although I did check this after a Tundra 5 so that’s on me)
This opened with a 4.2, so I checked and whaddayaknow it is actually straight up abysmal, just the worst possible versions of any of the different genres they’re dabbling in. Calling this shit r&b gtfoh go jam Tkay Maidza or Sudan Archives to get learnt on some quality contemp r&b, then tell me this soulless hackneyed bullshit is anything above a trainwreck

i'm fine with it being streamlined like this, i mean i sort of did a similar thing with a song last year on my 2nd album, the rest of the album wasn't like it but i felt like being bold and putting a very clearly 808s era Kanye-inspired song in the middle of my rock album because why not. it was a demo for a whole different project that I decided to use.
"Calling this shit r&b gtfoh go jam Tkay Maidza or Sudan Archives to get learnt on some quality contemp r&b, then tell me this soulless hackneyed bullshit is anything above a trainwreck" part of this album reminds me a lot of Process by Sampha, if that helps.
Also I swear to god I think even I've lost the plot here at points with taking the piss out of people but most of yall need to learn the concept of subjective taste.

So far we have learned this is objectively a smoother musical experience than:
Cattle Decapitation
Crazy Town
Captain Beefheart & His Magic Band
Am I missing any or have you not gotten done with the C’s yet?

Two can play that game. If we're gonna act all objective and like our opinions are more worthy than others then i can just as easily say people are being hyperbolic and need to listen to more bad music if THIS is what counts as bottom of the barrel, as they can say I need to listen to more music from a style I clearly don't vibe with, because I think this is one of my favorites.
Cattle Decrapitation being a 3.8, whatever people can like it, but every part I heard sounds the same as the last and I can't fathom spending 52 minutes on something with a completely static sense of dynamic like that. I don't get it, but like I said, music is subjective, so perhaps I don't need to.
