walking around the entire north coast of quadra island (bc) at 6:00am during sunrise listening to this was probably the highlight of my life so far.



started out listening to dead flag blues as i left my campsite and wandered out to the beach. i saw a bunch of ruined debris like an abandoned lighthouse, various stick fortresses people had long since left behind, old tires, pieces of garbage etc. there were even messages people had left in the sand about having to stop walking and marking the time/date/place where they'd stopped. only person i came across was an old guy (strangely enough, right around the interview in providence) who was fishing, gave me a nod as i passed by but that was it.



eventually, i was unable to continue walking because i didn't want to venture out of familiar territory. right around the really depressing part at the end of providence (string loop manufactured during downpour), i had to stop. i marked my name and time in the sand and headed back to my campsite. the experience helped me to appreciate the true beauty of this album and everything it stands for.
