I really never picked up on Return to Passion being about necrophilia. That's fuckin gnarly and not something you would expect from this band

Yeah the whole “wow shock value much” doesn’t come through across at all through the lyrics. Like that’s for sure what it’s about but Bryan didn’t go all goregrind with the words.

I'm thankful for that. Makes the realization more shocking imo.

Yeah going goregrind on a concept about a real person just seems kinda fucked to me so I'm also glad

i’m sure it’s fictionalized to a large degree. i don’t think that dude actually committed necrophelia irl but who knows. it’s fucking brutal though

Oh yeah I don't think that part happened, but still if the concept is of a real person then that'd be a real weird route to go down lol

they never identify him and the odds of him hearing this seem slim, if that makes you feel better. just seems like another case of art imitating life. the whole thing just feels like a big therapy session for brian

I was reading about it and it started just as a concept but the further they went, the more Bryan related and got emotionally attached, therefore it became more than they had originally planned. So I imagine it’s autobiographical, but mostly in theme and emotion. That last part is just my guess, and the necrophilia is most likely more than metaphorical than literal.

Imagine being the dude he partially based this on reading the lyrics and implying he fucked a corpse lmao.

Maybe the Tear refers to the pussy aka gash or slit.

This is not their strongest output. In fact the overlong song structures do not work in their benefit here. Maybe there's some context I am missing out tho...

I mean that’s what I was getting at. Tear + Fabric (flesh, in human terms) + Death (necro stuff). Too subtle

this probably is their best to be fair
