I dont think I gave this all that fair of a chance, gonna listen all the way through again today at work and see if I dig it more.

Considering you rated this a 3, I would say you didnt give it a fair shake.

That's why I am shaking it again

Can't get over the singing, it sounds really strained, I'm not surprised to read the dude blew up his voice

I don't think his singing is sustainable now tbh, but I like this record very much, so yea, there is that. I wonder how long he will be able to go on singing like this

new PTH being recorded soon?!?!? holy fuck
considering how long they were probably waiting on Palimpsest to be recorded a 3-4 year difference sounds great to me. hopefully Rody is good to record, hearing about that shit sucks/is frankly scary af

I have to agree with Gocsa. It makes me sad that, at this point, not many remain from the OG line-up. Would love to see them go on and continue to make music though!

He sounds healthy to me on record, it's just probably far too taxing to do a run of shows doing so many demanding songs.

Where was this announced

"it's just probably far too taxing to do a run of shows doing so many demanding songs."
I maybe should have been more clear, but this is basically what I wanted to say. The guy is basically yelling at the top of his lungs in so many songs, I just can't see him doing this for another 10 years with touring.

^ unsustainable. I honestly would be okay with them moving to being a studio band or just doing a hand full of shows per year.
With that said (and not to compare apples to oranges) ... Touche Amore's singer has somehow managed to play an unbelievable amount of shows literally yelling the entire time

@Feather - "In an interview with Metalbirb on YouTube Rody has confirmed that a new album is almost completely written and probably gonna be recorded in the beginning of 2023."

woot woot. I loved this one. So pumped for more. Band totally fell off my radar with volition and pacific myth but this put them back on the map for me.

Volition is still def number 1 for me but this is probably 2 at this point. they're at the their most consistently epic here and i loves it. excited for wherever they go next and wouldn't even be mad if things started to diminish in quality a bit (if possible). irdk how they've kept this up for 5 full lengths. i don't think any discog I know comes close as far as active bands go

yeah, they are pretty impressive. Every album is solid (despite my slight disdain for volition I know it is well loved)

On sustaining Rody's singing style: I'm not a singer but 100% believe any style can be sustained for as long as you want if you learn/find the right technique... Although there might be an element of just simple genetics included as well. But there's people like Corpsegrinder who's been doing tons of shows every year for decades now, there's Bruce Dickinson, there's Russell Allen, etc. Whether it's growls or high notes, you can find examples of singers doing great for God knows how long. I'm not sure Rody's ever put in enough work to learn/adjust...

Here's Rody using playback tracks for some of the harsh vocals in Limb from Limb: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXNk082B2xk sucks if you ask me...
