Show Yourself is pretty wack but I enjoy it due to its catchiness but it's very radio friendly which is not a direction I really like from this band.

Show Yourself needs to begin with that riff that introduces the last verse. That would have been so easy and so much more satisfying.

Show yourself is not so bad considering the album as a whole. Maybe they needed a song to play on late night talk shows or something.

Fantano basically starts questioning the band's decision to soft the edges when both fans and critics praise more their earlier records, which is completely fine. I get that. But then he starts comparing them to 90's bands and alt bands, and nitpicking stuff from some of the tracks and shitting all over the lyrics and the vocals.

He also mentions he liked OMRTS which is by far their most inconsistent record, and I think most users here would agree is their worst, while saying this is shit compared to OMRTS.

As much as I enjoy his reviews he wasn't able to make a point this time. I get where he was coming from, but then he just started ranting. He even shits on Jaguar God saying they added the initial softer minutes as a response to Nothing Else Matters? wtf

He goes back to saying "what I'm hearing here is material that I think Mastodon 10 years ago would not have let into an album", see that's fine, but then quickly after saying that he shifts right back to his criticisms to how some of these songs sound like 90's classic rock/metal.

The third sound off says it best tbh.

Think this album may be turning me into a Mastodon fan. It made me brush off the dust from my Blood Mountain CD and I dig it a lot more now. I'm now exploring the discog and honestly everything rules
