I can honestly say 95% of what is typed is honest opinion. The only time I might jazz it up a bit is when someone puts their bandcamp tunes on a list that are absolutely ripe for a massive piss take.

Perhaps "trolling" is the wrong word. I'm sure they are his real opinions. There are bands that I think are shit/overrated too. But I don't waste my time and energy talking about them. So, there must be something to that. Of course everyone has a right to express their opinions. But I'd be a little concerned if I noticed that a friend of mine was so constantly and passionately focused on the things they despised. I'd think it must be quite a miserable mind-space to always be existing in.

I don't think Jimmy has ever intended to be a rock band. Their early stuff was heavily inspired by emo and punk while their later direction has been more pop-focused. I think if we talk about Jimmy from Chase This Light onwards they're pretty much a pop band. N'sync with instruments as you say (despite how much that irks me).
