How many comments does a thread have to clock up for the staff to prune it? Or will they just let this run on and on?

Why prune it? Let the thing grow.

Just thought I'd heard somewhere here that certain threads got chopped back - probably a Devil and God thread that had become sentient and was starting to fight back against its creators

Nah. There was the hounds of love one that went over 1000. People leave and choose to have their comments deleted cos their soft bags of shite.

What are your hopes for the season Spacey?
|
| |
Great question. I feel like we have as good a chance as last season to succeed, but we likely won't capitalize on it. I would be happy to stay top 3 with how things have gone as far as squad strengthening goes. We certainly haven't "won" the transfer window so far but we won't drop out of the top 4 like gets said every season.
Honestly, I just want to see Arsenal have a go at it, Ox to do well (good as Hazard on his day), maybe some other young lads to come through and make a difference. I don't have high expectations at all. I've well and truly accepted this season that Arsenal is a "sports franchise" run by an American owner - and American owners expect profits from their sports teams. It's how we do things here (ironically our sports leagues are very socialist, as you likely know), for better or worse. I can only shrug when we get rinsed for 20 minutes by a shit team like Liverpool since we are the cause of our own demise.

Liverpool, City, Chelsea and United all look like they're expecting top 4 placings and recruiting accordingly - could both sets of North London dreamers miss out? Stability is on both team's side but other than that both are guilty of transfer market dithering and stock piling midfielders. This season is impossible to predict other than City finishing top 4 - anything less would be inexcusable for them.
|
| |
Agreed. The impossibility of predicting seems to double down every new season for the last few.
Agreed that your side hasn't done a lot of good market work either, but Wanyama, the cunt, should be a good pick up. I would go with a top 4, in no particular order, of:
Arsenal
City
Chelsea
...and probably United
But I could see Spurs in there as well, quite easily. Leicester will do well to finish top half, been saying that since they won it.
|
| |
Pool are overrated, as always. They'll probably finish top 6 but who in their squad is really class? Moreno is awful, Clyne is alright, their CB pairing I wouldn't take over Holding-Chambers, Henderson is and has always been mediocre, Winaljinimummmmum is an unknown quantity, Lallana is uninspiring, Coutinho is a "mercurial talent" at best. Mane looks pretty good though.
|
| |
As far as Man United go, however, I think there's a lot more to do than Jose, the cunt, can just fix with a wave of his hands. I could be wrong but I see them having a harder time than people think.

Liverpool you'd imagine won't lack for goals, some established Premier League goalscorers among their ranks (Mane, Sturridge if fit, Llalana, Wijwhateverhisname, etc) - but as you suggest the rest of their team looks anything but top 4
|
| |
Indeed. They'll score but leak like an old shed on a wet Wednesday night in Stoke.

I'd imagine your season aspirations are probably similar to mine, yeah?

Jose might struggle with such an open league - he works best when he has a just a few opponents whose skin he can get under, he could crack if things get too chaotic

Yeah my aspirations are similar, that's why I grouped the teams together - the two North London clubs have never gone into Premier League season resembling each other so closely

| |
I would love to see that cunt crack once again. I didn't hate him that much, always respected him as a winner at all costs kind of guy, but after last season with the whole physio business and rant after rant, I decided that the prevailing narrative was right and he's a Grade A USDA Certified cunt.
