Yeah most people are divided into the Leveller / FIFAP camps it seems. IMO Rescue and Restore was the logical progression of Leveller, and FIFAP is learning how to properly utilize the experimentation they explored on those two albums.

The only albums I can get into from these guys are Constellations & R&R. Everything else is super inconsistent and mostly meh to me.

Rescue & Restore was a fucking masterpiece imo, it had the best of everything these guys have to offer. Jake's vocals improved drastically, JB's guitar work was better than it ever had been, Matt laid down some fucking nasty drum work in songs like Provision and Animals, and they finally worked in the other instruments smoothly like trumpets and the like without it sounding forced. The songs are all varied, and I love every song. That's why I love R&R the most without going into extreme detail

Gonna have to re-listen to that one, I can barely remember it... Seriously doubt it has their best guitar work though, that's quite a statement.

It's by far the best overall guitar work JB has done imo. It's structured a lot better and the riffs are insane, not to mention that there are a lot less breakdowns, and the breakdowns that are there are used for emphasis a lot better than they have been in the past

Out of their last two album i'd actually say Found In Far Away Places is musically better, especially with the rather avid experimentation off this record. For personal reasons I still prefer Rescue and Restore however.

If only these guys could write an album full of songs as good as Composure, Meddler, & Spirit Breaker.

Each album has 3 or 4 songs that clearly surpass the rest of the albums.

If an entire album was on the level of Meddler, White Washed, Martyr and Composure....well it would be maybe the best metalcore album ever and that is tough to admit with The Oncoming Storm holding firmly to that title for like 13 years.

Yea I don't think anything Unearth has done is even in the top 100 metalcore albums

And the only ABR album I think is any good is Thrill Seeker

The last 2 Unearth records were better than Oncoming Storm. Those guys are at the top of their game right now. Watchers ruled.

I agree Watchers is absolutely sick, but they remain criminally ignored. Never Cease is top-tier Unearth.
