giving Trench a 4.5 because it is the best album they’ve had in a while (still feeling it out to see if it tops ST). However, the review I have for it will be a 5 for certain reasons so if you want to know why, read my review
shameless plug aside, I truly enjoy Trench thoroughly

I'm halfway through Trench and I'm enjoying it quite a bit too.

I feel like they’ve grasped a good, fitting sound for them by merging the lyrical styles of ST, melodic chill from Vessels, and the atmospheric background from Blurryface (electronically) along with some experimentation with brass instruments... it sounds really good to me

I've seen a lfot hyping Neon Gravestones on reddit, and while that one is certainly great, Bandito is incredible on first listen.

agreed, Bandito is legit, but I love Neon because of the lyrics personally
also, does anyone else agree that Josh Dun has really improved his groove in Trench?

I agree. After first listen I really like it! It doesn't really sound like TOP to be honest. It's a more cohesive, streamlined effort with each song fitting and sounding like they belong in a single body of work. It doesn't have the gimmicky feel of most of the songs on Blurryface nr does it have the insane diversity of this, which is a good thing. Some songs I will need some more time to process but I think it's a real solid release for them.

absolutely, it just flows really well with just enough diversity to make it interesting. probably my favorite release from them yet

what blows my mind about the new album is that it was pretty much produced entirely by tyler from his basement, aside from some contributions by paul meany (the mutemath guy) i suppose. that and a stint at a studio in LA to track josh's drums for the album.
it's not as off the wall as i was hoping from jumpsuit but...damn it's a commendable effort.

That's awesome. I don't like the production on this but Trench sounds excellent.

Trench is fucking incredible. Like holy shit. Chlorine and Morph are my favorites on a first listen with neon gravestones and levitate close behind

It's interesting that so many people seem to really like Chlorine, for me it's the worst song on the album by a long shot. Maybe it'll grow on me though, who knows

Chlorine is awesome. Cut my Lip is probably the worst song.

Yea, Cut My Lip isn’t that great, but I also haven’t been able to get into The Hype yet and I don’t know why
other than that, everything is pretty great

Oh yeah I forgot about The Hype. Those two are my least favorite as well.

I also think Chlorine is one of the best save thst outro. It just trails off into a sputtering cough. Should have ended with the quiet moment before it.
