yeah but the solo/outro is like top 10 Opeth sequences for me and I feel like no one ever acknowledges that. :'(

Agreed. On some days this is their best, even better than MAYH.

Yeah I think I’d put it ahead of MAYH at this point but they’ve always been my favs.

They represent different sounds of the band I think. This is obviously more polished than MAYH, but no worse for it. They're on par for me. Both amazing records.

This is the best album for introducing someone to Opeth, perfect summation of their overall sound.

Disagree on account of Per Wilberg being on this.

Art is always on point. That keyboard never won me completely over.

Also if you look him up on google, he's describes as a keytarist. lol I guess.

Per is great wtf.

So is the new guy though, well he's not new anymore but whatever his name is haha.

Agreed. The keys add so much to this album imo. For instance during the first couple of minutes of Beneath the Mire for instance, like Pleb said earlier.

"wtf"

Ever heard of differing opinions? It's a real thing, especially in music.

With time you will see many examples of people having other tastes than you. I hope you have the mental fortitude to not be too estranged and puzzled by this.

I don't think Per is bad (a little cheesy at times maybe), I just don't think the album is the best representation of the band since there's no keyboards on most of Opeth's signature albums. I think MAYH is a better starting point with the shorter songs.
